Dr. Kaplon is board-certified in urology and fellowship trained in robotics and minimally invasive surgery. Dr. Kaplon is currently a member of First Physicians Group in Sarasota. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with honors in 1999. He went on to receive his M.D. degree from Penn State College of Medicine in 2003. He completed his surgical internship and residency in urology at Brown University in 2008. Dr. Kaplon then received his advanced training in robotics and laproscopy at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics in 2008. Here he had the opportunity to participate in a national program teaching other urologists advanced laparoscopic techniques.
He is fellowship trained in robotic and laparoscopic surgery and endourology and has extensive experience with minimally invasive approaches to urologic oncology, reconstruction, and stone disease.
Dr. Kaplon has lectured and presented research both locally and nationally, and has received awards for his research in 2007, 2008, and 2009. He serves as a reviewer for the Journal of Endourology and Urology, and serves on the editorial staff of the Urology Times. .
