LeMatidora Inn was created by Malcolm, “Macky”, Lincoln. Macky originally built the building as his home in 1987. Katrina hit in 2005 and he and his family relocated. Even though he & his family relocated in Belle Chasse, he refused to allow his home to continue to rot away. Since his children were grown & out the house and no one planned on living there again, he thought of a way he could repair the building and also keep it completely self-sustainable (financially) – by opening it up to the public. He sandblasted all the wood (first 2 levels were submerged) & made major adjustments to meet the requirements of a public hotel. In 2007 Mackey opened the LeMatidora Inn [named after his children: (Le), Malcolm (Ma), Timmy (Ti) + Dora (Dora)] to the public and in 2012 his daughter, Dora, purchased it and is still the current owner today. .
